As always, thank you to our EAB members for their time, knowledge and energy… to Vice Mayor Greg Langowski, and to Acting City Clerk Odet Izquierdo for staying late!
Next EAB meeting is scheduled for Thursday March 12th.
1) AUTISM SUPPORT – was a topic of conversation tonight. PBC has some EXCELLENT resources for caretakers of autistic people, from childhood to adulthood:
2) NIGHT AT ROGER DEAN STADIUM – is firming up! This is NOT set in stone, but a night at Roger Dean might look like a comfortable evening in April, gates opening at 530PM, with a specific Westlake fundraiser package for tickets and food/drink available to buy. In this case, proceeds would most likely go to Seminole Ridge High School. If they’re on board, that is! #fingerscrossed
FYI, spring training for the Miami Marlins and the Saint Louis Cardinals begins at Roger Dean Stadium February 21st. One of the MAJOR perks of living in South Florida… #crack
(Also FYI, Houston Astros and Washington Nationals spring training is at Cacti Park here in PBC, too!)
3) ALTERNATE BOARD MEMBER CHAD LOVITT – was sworn in tonight. And if it weren’t for Mr. Lovitt, we would not have had a quorum for tonight’s EAB meeting! Your timing could not have been better, Mr. Lovitt! Thank you for serving!

4) UPCOMING SPIRIT NIGHT – After their inaugural Spirit fundraiser at Jabrewski’s this past November, the EAB is setting their sights on Chipotle or Carmela Coffee for their second Spirit event! Stay tuned for a fundraising opportunity for Seminole Ridge High School, hopefully at one of these great neighborhood spots!
5) CITY OF WESTLAKE TEACHER CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE – The EAB will begin awarding a Certificate of Excellence to three teachers of Westlake schools (i.e., Golden Grove Elementary; Western Pines Middle School; Seminole Ridge High School) over a school year!
We can expect the first certificate to be awarded at this April 7th City Council meeting! Keep your eyes peeled for that.
And parents, in the meantime, maybe alert your Principals/Assistant Principals to the teachers you’re most happy with.
