Vice Mayor Greg Langowski is Going Places!
Vice Mayor Greg Langowski is a REAL boon to Westlake. The Vice Mayor, importantly, is the Education Advisory Board’s City Council liaison, among many other things. I can vouch for him, this guy is knowledgeable and proactive and loves the City of Westlake!

The City of Westlake made two announcements regarding Vice Mayor Langowski on August 18th:

FIRST, Vice Mayor Greg Langowski recently received the Gold Certificate of Excellence from the Certificate Program for Elected Municipal Officials hosted by the Florida League of Cities (FLC).

The certificate of achievement program rewards municipal officials for their commitment and dedication to training and continuing education. The program offers three certificate levels:

  • Level One: Bronze Certificate of Merit
  • Level Two: Silver Certificate of Leadership
  • Level Three: Gold Certificate of Excellence

“The Florida League of Cities remains committed to providing valuable educational opportunities for municipal leaders throughout their public service journey,” said Holly D. Smith, 2025-2026 FLC President and Councilwoman for the City of Sanibel. “The elected officials recognized through this program have demonstrated the importance of expanding their knowledge and enhancing their ability to serve their residents and communities.”

Langowski completed the certificate program, which ran for one year from August 2025 to July 2026. Officials earned points for participating in training events offered by FLC, including monthly webinars, online orientation, the Institute for Elected Municipal Officials (IEMO I and II), the State-Mandated Continuing Education in Ethics, and the League’s Annual Conference and legislative events.

“Continuing education is an important part of being an effective municipal leader,” Langowski said. “The Florida League of Cities provides tremendous opportunities for elected officials to continue learning, exchange ideas and better understand the issues facing our municipalities. I am proud to earn the Gold Certificate of Excellence and remain committed to using these opportunities to better serve the residents of Westlake.”

This marks Langowski’s fourth consecutive year earning the Gold Certificate of Excellence, reflecting his continued participation in the League’s educational, training and professional development programs for municipal officials.
