City of Westlake 5K Remembering 9/11 Takes Place This Saturday

Community Race Marks the 25th Anniversary of September 11 with a Morning of Fitness, Reflection, and Unity

Race day is almost here for the 3rd Annual City of Westlake 5K Run/Walk, held this year as the Westlake 5K Remembering 9/11 in honor of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Presented in support of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the race takes place this Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the greenspace located just north of the corner of Persimmon Blvd and Ilex Way. The race begins promptly at 7:30 a.m.

Now in its third year, the City of Westlake 5K Run/Walk takes on new meaning in 2026 as the Westlake 5K Remembering 9/11, marking 25 years since the September 11 attacks. The race brings residents and participants together not just for a physical challenge, but for a meaningful morning of remembrance, as the community honors those lost on that day. The event welcomes runners, walkers, and residents of every pace and ability.

The City of Westlake is proud to be a supporter of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a national organization dedicated to honoring America’s fallen military heroes and first responders and supporting their families.

Every registered participant will receive a race bib equipped with an RFID timing chip for accurate results, an official event shirt, and a finisher medal. Awards will be presented to the top three overall finishers as well as winners across various age groups.

Registration Details

With race day just days away, the City of Westlake encourages runners and walkers to register in advance to guarantee their spot and secure their preferred shirt size. Same-day registration will also be available on-site the morning of the race for anyone who hasn’t yet signed up.
