Salsa Flow – Westlake Master HOA Mondays #3

Salsa Flow – Westlake Master HOA Mondays #3
Don’t miss the first two posts in this series about CHESS CLUB and BOOKWORMS BOOK CLUB!

DISCLAIMER: As a rule, Westlake Wanderer (WW) does not cover Westlake Resident Master HOA events. These events are pay-to-play by our quarterly HOA dues and, often, with additional fees beyond said dues.
That said, it’s fun to get the word out from time to time about the great clubs, programs and events Westlake’s Master HOA hosts. So I’ll be featuring some of these in a series called “Master HOA Mondays” for the next few weeks.

Salsa Flow is FUN! Truly! I am not a natural dancer, but I was stepping, and pivoting and dipping my arms…!

Every Friday, from 630-745PM, husband and wife Courtney and Stephanie bring their Salsa Flow class to the Westlake Lodge! The duo teaches Cuban casino rueda style salsa. In this style, all dancers dance in a circle (la rueda/wheel) with structured, in-sync moves that are called by a caller (usually Courtney!). It’s a very social style of salsa where there is a lot of call and response, switching partners, and a variety of moves. One move is called: Dile que no! (Tell her no!)

The one hour and fifteen minute class FLEW by, but there was plenty of time to get to know each other, ask questions, and, of course, learn how to salsa. Courtney and Stephanie are fun and laid back and great teachers.

It’s $15/class (register via the HOA wbsite) and recommended to bring a partner. But not necessary. In the class I joined there were seven of us, three who didn’t bring partners. Otherwise, just bring yourself, water, and, if you’re feeling it, some fancy shoes!

Media! Abajo! Exhibela!
