No Education Advisory Board (EAB) meeting again till September 17th! Enjoy the summer, everyone!
1) WESTLAKE’S NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Principal Darline Winewski, Westlake’s new elementary school principal, was present to report on our new school’s progress.
Principal Winewski goes to construction meetings every two weeks. Remember ground just broke April 30th, now power lines and plumbing are going in, including wastewater and storm drainage. The footers for Building A, the classrooms building, are going in.
Some minor changes to Building C, the kitchen and cafeteria building, have been made. For one, feedback from Arden’s Saddleview Elementary led to a change in the serving line to make it more efficient and kid friendly.
The target completion date is July 23, 2027! That’s about a year away, just in the nick of time for the ’27-’28 school year.
2) ELEMENTARY NAMING COMMITTEE – Look for, most likely, TWO naming committee meetings to give your input for the new elementary school name. These will probably piggyback off of City Council meetings.
This is where public feedback is going to be very important! If you don’t show up and voice your opinion, don’t even try to be mad when the school is named Nikkelbackfanklub01. So stay tuned for dates!
3) FOURTHFEST – The EAB will have a table at this year’s Fourthfest! Remember, this year, Fourthfest will be at the big city park location at the northwest corner of Seminole Pratt Whitney and Sycamore from 5-930PM. Stop by to meet your Board members and let them know how things are going for you and your lil’ students.
4) EAB IS LOOKING FOR BOARD MEMBERS – Did you know that only seven of Palm Beach County’s 39 municipalites have any kind of Education Board. It’s a real luxury to have one and now you can apply to be a part of our Board! Westlake’s EAB is looking for one (1) regular voting member and one (1) alternate member. It’s not a lot of your time, the next meeting isn’t even till September 17th. So apply now! If you live in Westlake and DO not work for the PBC School District, then click HERE for the simple one page application.
