It’s me, Alicia, welcoming you to the new and improved Westlake Wanderer!
What you can look forward to:
ADVERTISING – These adverts are meant to be informative, mutually beneficial and, most importantly, exclusive. The blog will NOT be bogged down with ads that interrupt your scroll nor muddy up the site with visual noise. These ads are meant to be local and purposeful. Interested? Click the link up top or click HERE!
SEARCH FIELD – After years with no internal search field, we’ve finally got a real, legit search field (top right corner)!
COMMENTS – For readers who have no Facebook presence, commenting is now supported on each blog post! This gives the opportunity for all readers to have their say. Can’t wait to hear from everyone!
POLLS/SURVEYS – These will be something light and fun and (sometimes) informative.
NEXT WEEK’S EVENTS – A reminder post that shows up Friday mornings listing next week’s events… just in time to show up in Saturday morning’s email newsletter.
OP-EDS – I’d love to post opinions or hot takes once a month from readers. No politics; no riff-raff! We’ll see how it goes…
In December of 2018, I checked out of my Airbnb at Big Blue Trace and Southern Blvd and drove to my last walkthrough in the Hammocks. My builder Cory (IYKYK) saw my Mini Cooper filled to the brim and made a “joke” about hoping my closing went through. WHAT!?
Luckily, things went as expected and my sweet lil’ dog and I slept on a sleeping bag on the floor of our beautiful, new Sandhill that night. My mattress was delivered the next day.
Barely a year later in January 2020, at the cusp of Covid, I began writing this blog because I had perceived a gap in information and communication between all of Westlake’s parties: the City of Westlake, developer Minto, SID, residents, potential buyers, and, at the time, even the HOAs.
I tried to quit this blog for a hot minute once. I thought when Westlake’s city council was finally filled with Westlake residents that they would give us all the info… But our council members are very busy doing our city things, they have their own careers (we pay them a pittance, barely $1K/month), and Sunshine laws and ethics limit what they can say publicly.
So there I was blogging again! And while it’s not easy, it’s become something I love to do.
Westlake Wanderer 3.0 (this is the third iteration!) has all the bells and whistles I’ve always dreamed of for this blog. I’ll be perfecting the new site over the next few weeks. Please pardon my dust.
Oh, and check your Junk/Spam boxes for last Saturday’s newsletter email if you’re signed-up, as it came from a new source.
